4 - Importing Your Blog

One of the most important aspects of the Rockfax Blogs is that the nature of the site means that most of the blogs will tend to be climbing-related.

Having a lot of climbing-related blogs in one space means that you are more likely to get people viewing your blog since you and the audience share an interest.

Import options screenIf you have a Blog elsewhere, perhaps on Blogger for example, and you would like to move your blog to Rockfax, then this is possible using the Import facilities available. These are described on the page under Blog Admin > MANAGE > Import. You will need to first export your blog from wherever it is at present.

The import function works with varying degrees of success depending on where the blog has been hosted before. Sometimes it imports entries, comments, photos and categories; sometimes just the blog texts.

Your photos will not be moved from the existing blog host but will be linked to from the Rockfax blog and display correctly. If you want to move them to the Rockfax site then you will need to re-import them, although there is no real need to do this unless you are worried about them being deleted from the old hosting blog. Usually any layout like ‘right-align’ will not be imported with the blog so you may need to edit your photo positions in the imported blog entries.

You can also export your Rockfax blog for backup, or moving elsewhere, using the Export function under Blog Admin > MANAGE > Export.
