1 - Getting Started

Rockfax Blogs work like most other Blog systems, in fact it is based on one of the more popular off-the-shelf packages - WordPress. The software is relatively straightforward to use although it can take a bit of getting used to initially.

Rockfax account login pageTo get started you will need to have a Rockfax User Account which you can get from here. In addition to being able to start a blog this will also enable you to leave comments on the Rockfax Route Databases, and download Rockfax MiniGuides. You can start using this account straight away but we do send an email confirmation check to the email address you set up with the account. This sends you an activation link (or activation code) which you need to click on to activate your account. It is important that you activate the account to avoid it being deleted at a later date.

Your Rockfax User Account pageTo set up a blog you need to go to your Rockfax Account page, which is accessible from the link towards the top left-hand side of the Rockfax Home Page, when you are logged on. On this page, there is a create a new blog box. Here you can choose your blog path name but choose carefully since it cannot be changed later, although this name will only appear consistently in the URL so it is not that important. Your actual blog pages can display a different name which you can change using Blog Admin > Options.

To start blogging, go to your own blog page, which is linked to from your Rockfax Account page. Your first post will already be there entitled “Hello World!” You can either edit or delete that post.

Your first blog entry pageAnother important link is the Blog Admin link on the right-hand side bar of your blog page. This link takes you to a page where you can access many of the extra features of Rockfax Blogs, including ways to customise your blog with your own links and categories.
